Workshop - Rencraft

Workshop

Nestled down a winding country lane you’ll find Chart Farm, located just outside Sevenoaks. This has been Rencraft’s home since 1980 when we first started manufacturing bespoke pieces of furniture under the guidance of our founder, Nick Pile.

An engineer by profession, Nick’s approach was to look at the principles of woodworking from an engineering perspective. This means that our workshop today is a unique blend of traditional woodworking methods alongside key pieces of modern machinery. We believe this allows us to harness the very best of both worlds, resulting in a quality product that offers customer satisfaction for years to come.

One of the many benefits of having our own workshop is that every kitchen is individually made for each client, giving us the flexibility to use the methods and materials that we believe are best for their project.

This attention to detail, coupled with our desire to make every piece of furniture to the absolute highest quality, is the reason we believe so many of our customers are kind enough to return to us and to recommend us time and time again.

Handmade in Kent

Rencraft may have grown over the years, but we still hold true to the original values of woodworking and craftsmanship that we began with over 35 years ago.

We are extremely proud to be have our own Kent based workshop. Visit our Sevenoaks showroom and you can literally hear it in operation next door. Why not ask your kitchen designer to give you a quick tour?

Bespoke handmade furniture

Each cupboard, spice rack or piece of furniture that we produce is individually made for you. Our frames are all made from solid wood - typically Oak, Walnut, Birch or Poplar - while our drawer boxes are all handmade using comb-joints. We believe these are stronger and longer lasting, able to withstand years of use.

Comb-joints also have the added bonus of being aesthetically pleasing too. In fact, some of our clients now choose to make a feature of this by having exposed solid wood drawer boxes included within their finished design.

Built to last

Our kitchen carcasses are typically made from plywood; thin sheets of solid wood placed one on top of the other. We choose plywood because we believe it is the best material for the task. The multiple layers work together enabling the carcass to withstand movement, giving a superior product that lasts.

Of course, there may be an occasion when one of our bespoke designs dictates that we do something a little differently. The beauty of having our own workshop is that we can tailor our methods and our materials accordingly, always using the best approach for the job.

Quality workmanship

Our commitment to our workshop has earned recognition from our peers within the industry, and we are delighted to have won a Best of British Design & Manufacturing award.

We are proud to use only the highest quality materials and craftsmanship. We are so confident in the quality of the furniture we produce that every Rencraft product is guaranteed against defects in materials and workmanship for the lifetime of the product.

Sustainable business

We’re also committed to our environment too. We recycle the majority of our shavings into briquettes to help heat our buildings and we also ensure that all our wood comes from a reputable source.

Handmade, hand-crafted pieces of furniture, attention to detail and quality that is built to last. We believe that these are the reasons why so many people choose Rencraft.
