Two of our designers were invited over to BORA’s HQ in Germany last month for two days of training and all the latest updates. Here’s their BORA diary…

“Flying in to Munich, we touched down to -7 degrees centigrade and a snow covered landscape. From the airport it was around a 1 hour drive to BORA HQ in Raubling, Bavaria. Here we were met by our two trainers, Stefan and Florian, who were welcoming a selection of delegates from across the UK with a light lunch and an introduction to BORA.

The introduction included an in-depth look at the history of the company who have made it their mission to revolutionise kitchen extraction. Willi Bruckbauer invented the BORA concept back in 2007. His aim was to introduce cleaner air to the kitchen while simultaneously removing the need for bulky extractor hoods that also cause unnecessary bumps and bruises to foreheads! With a focus on design and performance, it’s easy to see why the concept has caught on.

Our two days of training included a look at the Professional 2.0 and the Basic, as well as the unveiling of the brand new Classic 2.0 with S-Control plus controls (available to order now for deliveries in the Spring) and the exciting new BORA Pure, which is a simpler adaptation of the Basic with a flush finish and the latest S-Control touch control system, this latest innovation is expected to be launched to the UK market later this year.

Not only did we learn everything we needed to know about the functionality of each appliance and the various options available for ducting and installation, we also had a chance to experience cooking on a BORA first hand.

Under the guidance of BORA Chef Ivana Frank we were split into teams and tasked with making either starters (seared salmon on the Teppan), a main course (perfectly cooked steaks with a selection of veg) or desserts (the delicious Kaiser Schmarren which is a classic, Bavarian dessert of pancakes with an orange and toffee sauce).

This was a delicious feast to remember and a fitting way to truly appreciate the advantages of BORA.

Overall our two days at BORA were really insightful, we couldn’t have been better looked after by our hosts and their enthusiasm and knowledge for the product was further underlined by their genuine passion for the brand as a whole.”
