Borough Kitchen

Rencraft are delighted to partner with Borough Kitchen to provide their Islington Square store with two beautiful, bespoke kitchen designs.

Our partnership began in 2019, when we were brought together through our mutual relationship with luxury German appliance manufacturer, Gaggenau.

Gaggenau knew that the team behind Borough Kitchen were looking for a British kitchen company to design and manufacture two kitchens for their brand new London flagship store. Instantly, they thought of Rencraft and introduced our MD, John, to Justin Kowbel and David Caldana, founders of Borough Kitchen. The beginnings of a firm friendship were formed.

Says John, “Justin and David’s enthusiasm for the brand and their new store was infectious, I knew straight away that I wanted Rencraft to be involved. Just like us, the team at Borough Kitchen are focused on brands with a long-standing reputation for providing high-quality, beautifully designed and functional products. Their ethos is so closely aligned with ours that it felt intuitively right to me that we should work together.”

Turn the clocks forward from that first meeting and Rencraft are proud to have provided two bespoke, handmade kitchens for the Islington store. One of the designs is used as the Borough Kitchen Cook School, where budding cooks attend intimate, informative classes that equip them with a variety of the skills needed to enhance their abilities in the kitchen. The second kitchen is used exclusively for product testing and demos, forming the backdrop to some of Borough Kitchen’s online content and videos.

Both spaces fulfil the Borough Kitchen brief; being at once elegant and practical. The cook school features a double door larder with solid oak interiors, two islands, open shelving and discreet storage thanks to our signature door inframe cabinetry, handcrafted with a traditional bevelled door design. The kitchen has been handpainted in Borough Kitchen Green (a colour created in collaboration with the team at Borough Kitchen), and finished with brass handles and limestone worktops. Appliances are by Gaggenau.

The second kitchen is handpainted in Borough Kitchen Blue (another shade created especially for this project) with satin chrome handles dressing a contemporary square wide door design.

In keeping with Borough Kitchen’s Local Legends marketing campaign, which celebrates the work of local businesses, all of the kitchen furniture was handmade to order in Rencraft’s workshops just a few miles away from London on Chart Farm, near Sevenoaks in Kent.

Those clients interested in a kitchen for their own home are welcome to visit the workshops and design studio first hand. Simply call 01732 762682 or email bk.vip@rencraft.co.uk

The synergy between Rencraft and Borough Kitchen has been further cemented with the creation of a stunning, handmade Butcher’s Block. This is available to Borough Kitchen clients on a made-to-order basis in a variety of specially prepared paint colours.

In addition, visitors to Rencraft’s Tunbridge Wells Design Studio can also view a selection of items from Borough Kitchen’s carefully curated range which includes Mauviel cookware, tableware from Jars Ceramistes and glassware from La Rochere, amongst many more.

Borough Kitchen products are available online and at the following London locations – Islington Square, London Bridge, Hampstead and Chiswick.
