Which worktop is right for my kitchen? This is a common question our clients ask.
The truth is there are a number of options available, which is why we’ve compiled this quick guide to introduce you to the three different types of worktops that we tend to work with the most.
Granite – Granite is a natural stone with it’s own naturally occuring colours, veins and patterns. Traditionally, granite has been considered a solid choice for your kitchen worktop, with a long standing reputation for being tough and reliable. The organic nature means that each slab is subtley different, making a granite worktop a truly unique addition to your home. We do have some granite samples in our showrooms, or, for a really special experience, we can arrange for our clients to visit our stonemasons’ yard. Here you can select the precise slab you want, enabling you to truly personalise your kitchen design.
Quartz – Quartz is a more modern, man-made material known for it’s durability. It’s hard-wearing nature makes it a popular choice in the kitchen. Quartz comes in a wide variety of textures, colours and finishes. From polished to leathered, speckled to marbled, or just one single shade, we have a vast selection of samples available in both our showrooms. Quartz comes in a variety of thicknesses too. From delicate 30mm thick worktops for a classic and elegant look, to chunky 60mm ones for a more contemporary finish. We work with a number of leading manufacturers including Caesarstone and Cosentino and we are proud to be recognised by Cosentino as one of their Elite studios.
Corian – Corian solid surfaces allow for the creation of stunning, seamless worktops and splashbacks. This man-made product can be crafted into any shape, without joins or interruptions. The versatile nature of Corian means it lends itself especially well to kitchens which incorporate curves, splashbacks, integrated sinks and more. In addition, Corian boasts strong environmental credentials. The material is non-porous too, which means that dirt and bacteria have nowhere to take root, allowing for the highest levels of hygiene within the home. Rencraft are delighted to be members of Corian’s Quality Network as one of their recognised Home Design Partners.
While these may be the three most common types of worksurface we offer, there are many others. So it’s understandable if you’re feeling a little overwhelmed. Our designers have decades of experience, and they’ll tap in to this wealth of knowledge to guide you through each step of the design process.
We can also produce CAD renders of your design before it goes into production, helping to give you a really clear idea of what your finished kitchen will look like.
Together, we’ll help you to select the worktop that best complements your kitchen design.
