The Role of the Designer

Designed exclusively for you

At Rencraft we are proud to offer a complete design service and, should you want to visit our workshop at any point during the process, you can see your cabinetry being handmade by our team of skilled craftsmen and craftswomen.

In this blog we look at the role of the designer and how we work to build a close rapport with our clients to ensure that we provide exceptional customer service with an individual, personal touch.

Here to hold your hand

From your very first meeting to the design sign-off, during installation and all the way through to worktop templating/fitting and a hand painted finish, your designer will be on hand to support you throughout the process. We understand that a home improvement project can seem quite daunting and that’s exactly why having one point of contact not only allows you to build trust and a relationship with your designer, but also means you have someone to bounce ideas off and answer any questions you have at any stage. As well as helping you make decisions about your new kitchen layout, building materials, storage solutions and colour, our friendly and approachable team are extremely experienced and so perfectly placed to guide you on matters such as handles, worktops, flooring, lighting, and appliances.

A listening ear

Jonathan Reynolds Rencraft Kitchen Designer Kent

Our designers are adept listeners who use their experience and intuition to help identify the needs of the client. Before your first meeting, you will speak to your personal designer on the phone and they will ask you to think about some questions to help them build a picture of you and your lifestyle. The most important consideration is what you want the primary usage of your kitchen to be – a food prep area for the budding chef in the family or a social space which can be used for dining, relaxing and socialising.

They will also ask you to weigh up what you like and dislike about your current kitchen, whether you want freestanding or integrated appliances, and if you would like a central kitchen island or would prefer a peninsula. Some of our clients also find it useful to compile a features wish list which is particularly helpful when thinking about storage and whether you want a walk-in pantry or larder, deep plate drawers or cupboards with shelves, as well as help you make choices such as whether you will plump for in-frame Shaker doors or handleless, slab doors.

Your designer will also ask whether you have any additional building works ongoing so that we can look to liaise with any other trades involved to make your kitchen installation as smooth a process as possible.

The answer to all your problems

Our designers are natural problem solvers and approach all projects with a can-do attitude and positivity. We relish projects where we can work with awkward spaces and we love to treat buildings’ quirks not as pitfalls but rather as opportunities to open up the potential of spaces to create a truly bespoke design. Our designers may present you with different layout scenarios to combine your wish list with their expertise but will always ensure that you are offered all possibilities, and the final design is the perfect kitchen of which you have always dreamed.
