Grade II Listed Manor House Westerham

This exciting bespoke design was created in collaboration with our client, Interior Design consultant Taylor Smith, who wished to relocate the kitchen to the dining room of this spectacular Grade II Listed home. Our brief was to work with the period features, to design a central kitchen which would appear as if a contemporary art installation, or ‘pod’, had landed in the middle of this beautiful character filled room.

In order to provide a fully functioning kitchen within this centralised design, we installed Fisher and Paykel dishwasher drawers, Hotpoint fridge drawers, three BORA hobs, two BORA extractors and a sink with customized Quooker within one side of the large 4 metre island. On the opposite side, the client’s desire for the appearance of art was created through the use of metallic bronze panels with a patina finish. These materials were especially sourced for this design, and used to front the run of push opening drawers with walnut interiors.

In keeping with the centralised brief, the Miele oven stack was positioned on the middle back wall, surrounded by glass fronted cabinets.

LED lighting has been installed within the cabinets and also beneath the Silestone Quartz worktop, so that the look of the kitchen evolves from daytime through to night. Custom made brass handles complete the design.

  • Our client, Interior Design consultant Taylor Smith, envisaged a contemporary kitchen ‘pod’ that appeared as if it had landed in the middle of this character filled room. Aesthetically, the island should resemble a piece of art and the materials and lighting used should ‘evolve’ so that the design retains its visual appeal from daytime through to night.

  • The cabinets and one side of the drawers have been handpainted in Farrow & Ball Mahogany. Metallic bronze panels with a patina finish have been used on one side of the island. This metallic effect is further complemented by the use of a customized brass finish on the Quooker and custom made brass handles.

Best Feature

  • We love how this kitchen is constantly evolving. The patina finish on the metallic drawers will develop over time, while the LED lighting used under the worktop and within the glass fronted cabinets helps the kitchen transform effortlessly from daytime into night.
