Barn Renovation

In a Nutshell

This calm, inviting kitchen space provides the perfect place for the client's family to cook, chat and relax.

The Brief

The clean lines and simple, unfussy style of this Shaker-style kitchen appealed to our clients who desired a large, open-plan kitchen for their beautiful barn restoration located in a pretty village near Sevenoaks.

This design is both beautiful in its simplicity, and yet clever in its functionality. The ceiling extractor has been concealed behind one of the supporting beams, the area by the door has been turned into a boot room and utility, while the alcoves have been repurposed to provide both a walk-in pantry and some all-important wine storage.

The simple, square wide door pattern aligns with our client’s choice of a soft, neutral colour scheme, helping to create a light, bright space where the high ceilings, exposed beams and other architectural features of the property are allowed to truly shine. The use of un-lipped birch ply for the shelves and cutlery inserts further underlines this celebration of natural features and materials.

Our clients chose a crisp, clean white-on-white colour scheme incorporating hand-painted cabinets and 50mm Corian worktops in Sparkling White.

We love the neutral colour scheme, the open-plan layout and the carefully considered use of space. The design takes full advantage of the light and airy room and the surprising little nooks and crannies which we used to house a pantry and other storage areas we a joy to work with.

White shaker kitchen cabinets with utility sink and Crittall style double doors.
