Edwardian meets Modern
The perfect blend of modern design and timeless elegance hand painted in calming hues.
Our clients were extending their Edwardian family home and wanted a contemporary feel for their new kitchen that was still in keeping with the character of the rest of their property.
The new extension floods the kitchen space with natural light, making bold colour choices a must! We love the dark grey tone on the kitchen island which contrasts with the lighter shade on the rest of the cabinetry and creates a fantastic focal feature in the room. Finishing touches such as knobs and cup handles were also carefully chosen to give a nod to the period features of the rest of the property.
The colour scheme of this Shaker kitchen is pulled together thanks to a painted glass splashback which matches the painted glass doors of the dresser and complements the birch interiors and hand-painted cabinetry. The bespoke double door larder cupboard and custom-made solid birch cutlery dividers ensure that the finished kitchen offers plenty of handy storage space.
Our clients opted for chunky 60mm Corian worktops and stylish Miele appliances (an induction hob, down-draught extractor and oven stack) to give a modern edge.
To ensure an uninterrupted run of handcrafted cabinetry, we designed a secret door (situated in the corner to the left of the oven stack), which appears to be an additional cupboard but is actually a cleverly disguised doorway giving access to the utility room.
