Modern Meets Edwardian
The perfect blend of contemporary and classic design. Finishing touches such as knobs and cup handles give a nod to the period features of the rest of the property. Chunky Corian worktops and Miele appliances (induction hob, down-draught extractor, oven stack) give a modern edge.
As the extension benefits from so much natural light, our clients felt able to be a bit bolder with their colour choices. This allowed us to make a feature of the island by hand-painting it a darker shade than the other cabinets.
The colour scheme is pulled together thanks to a painted glass splashback which matches the painted glass doors of the dresser. The bespoke double door larder cupboard and custom-made solid birch cutlery dividers ensure that the finished kitchen offers plenty of handy storage space.
THE BRIEF
Our clients were extending their Edwardian family home and wanted a contemporary feeling kitchen that was still in keeping with the character of the rest of their property.
FINISH
60mm chunky Corian worktops, birch interiors and hand-painted cabinets with a darker shade of grey used on the island to create contrast.
BEST FEATURE
A secret door, situated in the corner to the right of the oven stack, may be disguised as an additional cupboard but is actually a doorway giving access to the utility.
