Modern & Shaker Mash Up
Our returning clients were relocating the kitchen into the basement of their Georgian home.
We were delighted to welcome back some previous clients, who approached us as they were embarking on their latest renovation project, a gorgeous Georgian townhouse.
While their former home had suited a traditional kitchen in keeping with it’s rural surroundings, the move to a new town centre location also brought about a change of brief. This time our clients’ wanted something a bit different; a sleek, modern and contemporary kitchen that also complemented the original features of the property.
Working with our clients to understand how they imagined using the new space, our designer created a minimalist layout that worked with, rather than dominating, the open-plan nature of the room. A combination of SieMatic and Rencraft cabinetry was suggested, with the statement SieMatic island providing the desired nod to a modern aesthetic, while the more traditional elements of the Rencraft cabinetry, such as the oak interiors and the bevelled door detail, helped to gently blend this style with the history and heritage of the property as a whole.
The 3 metre island houses both the Miele hob and extractor and the integrated sink with Quooker, create a linear workspace. The sink has been moulded with the worktop to further enhance the clean lines and simple, uncluttered style. A dual-purpose, double-door butler’s pantry provides additional appliance storage, alongside solid oak spice racks and pull-out drawers.
The tall units have been hand-painted in a warm, neutral tone and styled with brass bar handles from Crofts & Assinder.
The kitchen itself is further served by a walk-in pantry and a separate laundry / boot room (both also designed and made by Rencraft) with oak seating, shoe storage and two double-door wardrobes. The ideal place for the family dog to put his paws up after a long walk in the woods.
The island is comprised of SieMatic S2 Cabinetry in a matte, lotus white, topped with 50mm Silestone quartz in Eternal Calacatta Gold and finished with a glorious waterfall edge detail.
Appliances are by Miele and the tapware is from Quooker.
We created this unique fusion of sleek, sophisticated SieMatic cabinetry on the island with bespoke, hand-painted Rencraft furniture along the wall produced the desired result; two styles sitting harmoniously together in one stunning design.
The new space allowed for a more open-plan layout and our clients desired something with a contemporary twist, while still remaining true to some of the period features such as the ceiling details, cornices and fireplace.
This is the second kitchen we have used Rencraft to deliver. They always get the brief on what you need from a practical perspective and deliver top draw design which creates an exceptional finish.
