Escape to the Bootility

Boot room with coats on pegs, boots and sporting equipment

Putting the boot into bootility

The bootility room acts as the rear entrance hall to the property and so one of the key aspects was ensuring that there was ample space to allow the busy family to have plenty of room to decant their coats, shoes, bags, sporting equipment and shopping from the car when arriving home.

We designed a run of cabinetry along one wall which boasts a mixture of hanging rails and shelving for storage of warm weather gear, ski equipment and items for the beach, as well as shoes and boots not used in the current season.

Opposite this we included a large seating area with space for footwear to be lined up underneath, as well as pegs above the bench for frequently used coats, bags and hats.

Family living made easy

We created this user-friendly utility space to add ease to the lives of the client’s busy family and positioned the Miele appliances adjacent to the seating area of the boot room to allow muddy clothes to be put straight into the washing machine.

To add symmetry to the design we positioned a large sink for rinsing and hand washing items in between the washer and tumble dryer and provided under counter storage for detergents, fabric softeners and other household items. The Calacatta Milan worksurface provides plenty of room for folding clean laundry or preparing freshly cut flowers from the garden.

A place for everything

To the side of the tumble dryer we added two cubby holes for frequently used items such as a hand held vacuum, as well as storage for bulkier items such as towels to dry off muddy dogs.

The cabinetry was hand painted in a light grey tone by Little Greene to match the kitchen cabinetry and finished with brushed antique brass handles.
