HOW TO USE GREEN IN YOUR HOME
This year has given rise to the trend of biophillic kitchens; the practice of mingling elements of nature into our designs and what better colour to give a nod to the bucolic than the colour of 1000 shades, green.
In this blog we explore how you can bring a fresh, vibrant, and soothing atmosphere to your home, either by painting your cabinetry for an all-over look, or with accents and nods to this ever-popular kitchen trend.

When you live in the countryside, there can be no better colour to allow you to harmonise with your natural surroundings than a calming, leafy green which gives a nod to the dales, hills and hedgerows of the English landscape.
We chose to hand paint this boot room in a sage green by Benjamin Moore which sits beautifully against the natural stone flooring, antique gold pegs and oak bench seating, as well as the interiors of the shoe nook cubby holes.

Green is a colour which has a huge range of shades and so choosing the right one can be tricky. Our tip is to make sure that you consider the other elements of your kitchen design carefully before you plump for the colour of your cabinetry, as certain hues can bring out a variety of tones in your marble countertop, splashback and flooring.
In this classic farmhouse kitchen we chose to use three shades of green on the walls, cabinetry and freestanding table to complement the black quartz countertop by the sink area, as well as the white marble and maple butcher’s block which stands in the centre of the room.
The result is a beautiful blend of tones which echo the Kent countryside surrounding our showrooms and the natural materials used to create this stunning space.

This year it’s all about making bold kitchen design choices and what a stunning example this is!
In this project we wanted to highlight the client’s Crittall doors which look out onto the garden and swimming pool beyond, and so we chose to use a dramatic black marble on the, not one, but two waterfall islands.
To brighten the room and add a little splash of colour, we chose to paint one run of cabinetry in an aquamarine green which adds a striking contrast to the dark quartz and complements the black Lacanche range cooker, black tiled splashback and custom hood beautifully.

In smaller spaces you might like to maximise your opportunity to use green, so why not match your wall colour to your cabinetry paint choice? In this walk-in pantry we chose to do exactly that to create a greater feeling of space and our client was thrilled with the result.
We adore the bespoke shelving nooks which we created in the wall recess where we continued the “green theme,” giving the effect of widening the room, as well as providing extra storage.
This calming green also works in perfect harmony with the steel grey granite countertop and brushed chrome appliances, and, for an extra injection of fun, we also added a bold, patterned floor tile to complete the look.

If you’re not convinced about painting all of your kitchen cabinetry in green and would prefer another colour, you can still incorporate green into your kitchen design by using it as a secondary or tertiary colour through the use of plants or flowers.
In this contemporary kitchen we used a range of natural materials to create a sleek, modern design which includes black Bora appliances, charcoal grey slatted wood walls and glass cupboards, as well as natural stone countertops, splashbacks and shelving recess.
To add a little pop of vibrancy against the grey palette, we introduced a stylish display of greenery which draws the eye to the corner of the room and links to the view of the Tunbridge Wells treetops outside this penthouse kitchen window.

When we talk about using green in the kitchen most people immediately think of painting their handmade cabinetry and then choosing a light marble worktop.
At Rencraft we like to rip up the rule book and that’s why we designed our striking Cinnamon Kitchen when we renovated our award-winning showrooms in Tunbridge Wells.
To provide an eye-catching contrast to the deep terracotta handleless cabinetry, we chose this unique worktop which boasts beautiful veins of coppery-orange and brassy golds against the gentle green tones of the stone.

Now, we know what you’re thinking – this isn’t a green kitchen, but bear with us because this truly bespoke cabinetry is painted with the effortlessly elegant Studio Green by Farrow & Ball.
We love how the natural light and high ceilings of this kitchen space allow the almost-black greeny hues of the paint colour to shine through, as well as how it provides a canvas on which we could project a spectrum of other bold colour choices.
Inside the kitchen island cupboards, we chose to pack a coral punch with Bisque by Farrow & Ball and to accentuate this look further we lit the interiors with subtle LED lighting and added a white marble worktop with a raised plinth to hide the functional side of the kitchen from the rest of the living space. To finish off look, we chose a reimagined Chinoiserie by Zardi & Zardi which runs without repetition around the perimeter of the entire space.
With this property’s rich history, this kitchen truly is fit for an emperor & one of its former residents, Napoleon III!
